Betsy Williams Celebrates Over 30 Years of Exceptional Service at Rich Township High School District 227 (RTHS)
The Rich Township High School District 227 (RTHS) takes great pride in recognizing the outstanding service of Betsy Williams, who has dedicated over three decades to the advancement of the district's food service department. Starting as Head Cook and rising to her current role as Director, a position she's held for 11 years, Williams has played a crucial role in effecting significant improvements.
Under her leadership, RTHS's food service has undergone a comprehensive transformation. The menu has been revamped to comply with state and federal guidelines, and a notable innovation has been the introduction of a food court layout, revolutionizing the way meals are served to students. Her dedication shone brightly during the pandemic, as she spearheaded the distribution of over 1 million meals to families in the southland, showcasing her resilience and commitment.
Williams’ efforts extend well beyond daily meal operations. A hallmark of her tenure is the introduction of initiatives like the Thanksgiving meal baskets, which have brought joy to numerous families during the holiday season.
A significant achievement on the horizon is the inauguration of the Rich Township High School Food Pantry. This vital initiative, set to launch later this month, is a collaboration with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and is supported by DOT Foods, Inc., in University Park. This partnership reflects the district's ongoing commitment to addressing hunger in the community.
In the near future, the RTHS campus dining experience will be further enhanced with the introduction of an advanced hot and cold lunch vending system, designed to offer maximum convenience to students and staff.
The RTHS District extends its deepest thanks to Betsy Williams for her unwavering dedication and visionary leadership and eagerly anticipates her continued impact in the years ahead.
