Rich Township High School District 227 proudly announces that more than 40% of its senior class has already earned college credit, well ahead of their graduation.
These academic milestones were celebrated at the "Future Ready" event held at the Tinley Park Convention Center on Wednesday, April 26th. This landmark event was designed to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional academic prowess through various avenues, including:
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit: These students earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam or received a passing grade in an AP course for the first semester of FY 2022-23.
Dual Credit: A substantial number of students successfully completed at least one RTHS course in which they had the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously.
Dual Enrollment: Several seniors successfully completed at least one college course at a post-secondary institution while still enrolled in high school.
We were delighted to have as our guest speaker for the evening, Mr. Glenn Marshall, a successful alumnus of Rich Central High School. Glenn, a Matteson, IL native, currently serves as the Morning Reporter at WGN-TV. Starting his professional journey as an intern at WMAQ-TV Chicago, Glenn's dedication and ambition led him to his current prominent position at WGN-TV. He received his B.A. in Communications from Northern Illinois University, serving as an inspiration to our students in Rich Township High School District 227.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of our honored scholars for their incredible achievements and their relentless pursuit of academic excellence. We are confident that this early success indicates the great strides they will make in their future academic endeavors, said Dr. Johnnie Thomas, Superintendent.
